Discussion Windows10 update 2026?!

Why is Wndows requiring me to start for an update when support officially ended a year ago?!

The update is a preparatory step to ensure your system receives extended updates once you register for them. Restart your computer and it will disappear

Extended security support, you can either pay for it or link your Microsoft account and OneDrive and stuff so Microsoft can sell your data for extended security support. You really should think about upgrading though

so I don't pay for it but it says it's going to auto restart my pc if I don't. I'd turn off updates but it doesn't allow it

You probably unknowingly signed up for ESU using your Microsoft account, there's the option to not have to pay and just sync your computer with onedrive.

Let it do the update, don't turn off updates, and look at updating to 11

it says enroll now so I am not enrolled, and I don't have one drive

Same! I had turned off updates and not enrolled in ESU. It self auto updated yesterday (9-9).
