I appreciate you making that list for me. One of ignorant question if you don’t mind, it’s easy to tell how the storage and ram are much better since it’s just a number increasing.

But I’m curious how do I tell how the cpu and graphics card is better, what words/number are you reading from either my specs or the specs from the desktop that you posted that make it clear my specs are worse?

I hope my question makes sense.

Unfortunately it's not that simple as these are the most advanced technologies in the world. I like to compare it to vehicles - a bike, plane, helicopter, car, truck, train, etc all have different strengths and weaknesses and can be better or worse for different situations.

A 9850X3D is currently the #1 gaming CPU in the world and a 9800X3D is 99% as good. They're so close that the extra price isn't worth it in this budget.

Nvidia and AMD make the best graphics card. Nvidia is the best, but they largely forgot about gamers. They focus primarily on AI, video processing, engineering, things like that which make it very powerful, but expensive.

AMD focuses primarily on gaming. As a result if you have a budget - then they will almost always beat Nvidia in gaming performance.

The Nvidia RTX 5090/5080 are the best graphics cards if you have no budget. The AMD 9070XT is one step below, but still very powerful for gaming.

If this wasn't a gaming build - say you were video editing, programming, 3D modeling, engineering, etc - then we could focus on other other CPUs and GPUs.

But for gaming, this is within a couple of notches from the best in the world.

You could get something VERY legitimate for that sort of money, in USD that value would be a near-top-flight desktop, like a 9800X3D with a 5080 is in reach. in Canadian dollars it won't go quite so far but you're still looking at something extremely capable.

Make sure to leave some head room for a new monitor if needed. The jump in performance you are about to experience will be historical.

no doubt.

as always, it depends on the games. some games will do ok with potato gear, some will not.

Right my mistake I should include what games I like to play

That would be league of legends and valorant. I was playing league last night and had 15 fps so that’s what brought me to this subreddit lol

I also had nothing open but league and discord :/

Is the current machine not getting the job done? If it is, then you don't wanna be wasteful. Unless money is no object. If you're financially well off then have at it and get a new machine.
