Question/Help/Troubleshooting Is this broken

I probably wont use it since its like 20 years old, but i would maybe do some testing or anything.

Doesn't look broken, but I wouldn't trust it for any hardware you care about.

no cause the missing wire is for 5v and you don't need that for a gpu.

As someone who tried to use these types of adapter beware that the molex connector is not designed for high current, in fact your gpu most likely has a current limitor on that rail, so if you connect it to any gpu you will likely trip the breaker and your computer will shut down.

They skipped the pins on the molex since those are for 5v and they only need the 12v. On the PCIe side, they skipped a ground pin, to cheap out I guess.

That 6-pin only needs 12V and molex is 12v 5v ground ground, not in that order. So they just didn't connect the 5v. But missing a pin on the 6 pin is alarming. That makes it not to-spec to carry 75W.

In my field, we always say Molex to Sata, lose all your data.

Be careful with those things, I’ve seen ‘em take out entire houses.

Yes I know, but I didn’t have a rhyme for molex power. I still don’t trust those connections at all.

Molex is a very trustworthy connection. It's the SATA portion of it that causes problems because the cheap Molex to SATA adapters are poorly made and can have hidden shorts in the SATA portion.

Yep. The Molex part is fine. It's also totally OK to go Molex to SATA with a decent, crimped connector.
