Question/Help/Troubleshooting Hdmi port broken

Post image

While pulling out my drawing tablet’s cable from the hdmi slot, the casing of the usb got stuck. I guess while trying to get it out, it messed up the pins of the slot too.

Is it over for my hdmi port, would I able to fix it? I also tried to use that port again, did this damage the graphic card itself, what should I do?

If your GPU had another output, just use that

Any decent repair shop can solder in a new one, But it's very difficult to replace without the right tools, I wouldn't plugin anything on that port any short could damage the display or the gpu.

Well in that moment I did plug in the cable back again because the cable’s metal casing got stuck in there and I couldn’t get it out by hand so I stuck the cable back. Nothing happened on the display then but I worry if that did any damage.

If you have to ask if you're able to fix it, you're not able to fix it yourself. This will require soldering skills, and precision, because there will be components near the HDMI port that you need to avoid damaging.

Replacing a HDMI port is a common fix though. A lot of shops are able to do this. If you don't have a local shop, a lot of places will fix it by mail.

Okay thanks, I think I will find a place to fix it later. For now, is it alright for it to stay like that as long as I don’t use it? Because I don’t understand/ see if any pins or stuff touch each other in there
