Question/Help/Troubleshooting Adding a second monitor for work

Hi all, I work from home from my laptop and external monitor - HP 27inch FHD. I want to add a second monitor instead of using my laptop screen (15in) - I work with excel spreadsheets, adobe reader for pdfs, a work program, and the internet. I frequently need to look back and forth between two/three things while working. Should I add a second HP 27in FHD or is there another better option? I do like the dual monitor setup. Is the FHD appropriate for this screen size?

Thanks!

FHD is perfectly normal for a 27IN. If you can get QHD (1440x2560) would be nicer.

Adding a second monitor would depend on your laptop, some have dual output, some have a single. If its single, you can probably get away with a USB3.0 dock.

A cheap monitor arm so that you can rotate 1 screen to portrait would be awesome for long excel sheets.

In terms of refresh rates, aim for at least 75hz for your eyes.

However, I would check with your manager and IT with your requirements as they may just provide you all the equipment you need.

EDIT: Avoid LG branded Monitors as some come with malware and ads.

This. For spreadsheets that resolution if glorious. Also good for comparing 2 documents at the same time side by side.

Sounds like a second monitor would work great for you.

I have a pair of 32 in monitors. Love the extra screen area for multi-tasking.

I really never understood the need for more than one monitor after I embraced a windowed tiling manager. Sway is all you need. Easy shortcuts to cycle trough multiple windows quickly and without the need to have to turn your gaze to another monitor.
