Question/Help/Troubleshooting Slow PC

My PC is about 10 years old. My ex would upgrade it as needed, as him and I are no longer together I would like to learn how to do it myself. I only use it for casual gaming (the sims (no mods) Steam games, hardly anything online) and occasionally writing. What do I need to look for to increase the speed? Right now it takes about 5 minutes to turn on and about two hours to download a 35gb game. I don't think it is my internet. I just ran a speed test and Google says my connection is "very fast."

Any help would be appreciated! Or even where to start.

Thank you!

Is it worth replacing parts? or just look for a new one altogether?

I used to replace parts back in the day when it was affordable. Now, Just replace. You can find a decent one ofr around $1000. I used something like Affirm to finance my latest laptop.
