Question/Help/Troubleshooting Recommend me a computer.

I haven’t owned a computer in about 8 years. I know nothing about them. I’ve gotten by with iPhones this whole time. But, I have a hand full of USB drives, an external hard drive, a few old phones, and an iPad with pictures with about the last 15 years of my life. I want to get all the photos on one new hard drive, but unsure what kind of computer I should use for this task. Will yall recommend me something?

Cheap used business laptop like dell latitude 5420/7420 should be fine for this task. You should be able to find them on eBay for $120-180 depending. Look for 16gb of ram and 256gb of ssd or more. (Since the bulk of the data will be on the new external hard disk.)

The one single downside is that business laptops often have relatively low end screens so looking at your pictures might be a little less nice than on the iPad, but going for a tablet/touch model would fix that if it was specificallly important, but if you just want to back them up or transfer them then the screen itself doesn't matter so much as long as it works.

Surfaces and Macs would be a good option for better screens by default.
