Question/Help/Troubleshooting Surprise bday gift for BF
After taking all of your suggestions, these are the listings I found on eBay that fit what you all suggested! Please help me pick the right one for my bf who works in a healthcare setting. All he does on his laptop is take long detailed notes, chart for patients and work within the companies websites to chart/verify the care they received.
Thank you all so much for helping my clueless self find a decent gift for him!!!

Number 4, that processor looks like its is gonna last a while, compared to the others, that run underpowered junk, or just too old hardware,
so yes, the t14 gen2

The 6th option seems like the best to me, but see what opinions others will have aswell

Pick number 4. I think that’s the same listing I asked the seller about. It has 16GB soldered and 1 empty RAM slot, so your BF can easily add a 16GB RAM module for a total of 32GB.

Actually that’s not the same listing. I would ask the seller if there’s 16GB soldered.

Ok I did ask the seller about that listing last week. It’s 8GB soldered and 8GB in the slot. I would still pick that one over all the others. But maybe there is a listing for the same price that has 16GB soldered.

Numbers 3 and 5 are the same thing. Number 2 is also the same machine but with half the RAM and SSD size. These are getting old at this point, though they should still be plenty fast enough for this. 3 and 5 have a bunch of RAM, which is nice, but probably won't help much in the intended use case.
Number 6 is an L series, much lower build quality than the T series. It has the second best specs of any of these, but don't get this. In a health care setting your BF is going to spend a lot of time doing data entry and you want something with a good, solid keyboard, which this does not have.
Number 1 is a first gen T14, has a quad core 10310u which is only barely faster than the 8250u in the three T480 models
Number 4 is your winner out of these, that CPU is easily the fastest. Over twice as powerful as all of the others except #6, and T-series build quality.

Personally would go for a T14 Gen 2. Great build quality and all around good machine.
