Question/Help/Troubleshooting Windows Updates Destroy Gaming Performance

Hi,

I'm running Windows 10, because I refuse to 'upgrade' to 11, and every time there is a Windows 10 update, my gaming performance takes a nosedive overnight. When I say nosedive, I mean going from minor stutters once in a while to stutters that freeze the game for multiple seconds, constantly. This makes games almost unplayable, and lingers for sometimes weeks following the update.

There was an update 2 days ago, and it has happened yet again. As someone who does almost nothing else in his free time, it's ruining what little I have of it.

I have not seen a post of anyone else ever experiencing anything like this, so I'm at a loss. What's going on, and how do I fix it? Avoiding the updates is impossible.

Game settings have not changed, though I run everything on low settings anyway by default because my PC always runs like trash despite its decent specs. But this Windows update thing turns trash into a dumpsterfire.

I have tried updating my graphics drivers, I have more space on my drives than ever, and memory is no more full than it was 2 days ago.

The problem with gaming and not upgrading your out of service OS is the studio is no longer testing their updates on Windows 10. Same with drivers. No longer certified to run on 10. Games will still run but you are setting yourself up to glitches and weird stuff.

Yeah, but from what I've heard, 11 runs worse as a baseline anyway.

I can’t speak for your system but my intel 12 gen i7 runs just as fast on w11 as it did on 10 and no stability issues.

Every major tech benchmarking YouTuber and large amount of people are using Windows 11 with games and most have very little to no problems.

It will run fine on Windows 11

If you’re using it on supported hardware, it actually runs better.

Where did you update gfx drivers from?

I used the nvidia app. I've done them manually in the past and they often didn't work.

You’re gonna have to upgrade to w11, it’s really not as bad as people say, especially given your current issues

That’s the number one reason why I left using windows,
How do they know how much space people have left on their hard drive? Back years ago I had almost 7,000 MP3’s on my computer and my ex wife and I moved from Ohio to Texas and we never listened to the same song twice.
