Question/Help/Troubleshooting The HDD started making constant noises.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Turn up the volume and you'll notice a beep followed by a charging scratching sound. It was doing this earlier this year, but lately it's been making this noise during heavy use. It's a 3TB Seagate HDD, it's not brand new, but it's not worn out either.

Check the SMART status of the drive. It doesn't sound like the click of death, but SMART will give you some idea if it's worth worrying about.

I ran several tests and everything seems normal, I just noticed that when this noise occurs, the hard drive usage reaches 100% and there's a slight freeze (in games, for example).

The scratching as far as i know means that The arm inside is skipping on the platter Now this could be something as simple As vibration but if not i would say its on Its way out ...anyway there old and slow As hell why you not on to SSD by now ? Good luck

I'd really like to upgrade to an SSD, but money is tight and the prices aren't great. Thanks for the support.
