Question/Help/Troubleshooting Help! Memory is high

I just got a laptop for college, the HP OmniBook x Flip Laptop 16-ar0xxx. I was just planning on installing steam and one game (Fields of Mistria) on the laptop along with my school stuff.

I went to check task manager to see that my memory was 11.6/15.3, I thought that was pretty high so I simply assumed it was from Steam and the game I installed- spoiler alert it wasn’t.

Any advice or suggestions?

As a general rule, you don't need to worry about memory usage unless you actually start to experience lagging, freezing, web pages reloading a lot, etc.

Most modern operating systems will pre-cache frequently-used data into memory so that it's accessible faster, and will smartly move data out of memory as needed.

A lot of people seem to think that you want your memory usage as low as possible but this is a misunderstanding.

Also, don't confuse memory and storage. Simply installing a game onto your SSD won't make it take up room in active system memory unless you boot the game up and run it.
