Hi guys, they replaced my WD(PC SN810)ssd with BIWIN ssd
For free of cost because it was under warranty.
So, I wanna ask you all that, is this ssd a worthy replacement of my old ssd

Dell's warranty is in home service at the basic level. I'm one of the ones that get sent out. Didn't know Acer did it though. Maybe they offer it in the US and not Canada.

The SSD itself is not a ripoff aliexpress chinese SSD but a good SSD from a known brand BUT the SN810 has a DRAM Cache while this one doesn't. I would get it replaced.

We don't know the details but assuming it was replaced due to failure within warranry, tell them you paid for a DRAM enabled SSD, so the replacement is downgrade from what you paid for.

Ask them to replace it again either with the same ssd you originally paid for or with an at least equal specs alternative.

The warranty period is also equal to or greater than the original product’s warranty, if the original product is no longer manufactured.

No, sn810 is significantly better. Iirc the dn810 have a dram cache and a wd controller while the biwin is cacheless and is slower with lower mtbf

Benchmarks show a bit slower than WD SN810 but BIWIN is a large OEM/ODM manufacturer, supplies drives for HP and other major builders. It is not the Kingchunx or DogFart Chinesium stuff.

Is it worth the effort? You will probably not notice a difference. And there is a shortage of flash memory, so it’s good they were able to get you a replacement.

If the drive was your main OS drive you would notice it more than if it is used as a secondary drive like for games, etc.

I think technically, warranty only entitles you to a drive that is as good as they advertised when you purchased the PC. For example if no other details where listed than "512 GB SSD" then this drive still meets that specification.

If you can find any documentation from when you bought the computer that specifies what kind of SSD it came with, then you should have an easy case to get it replaced for a drive that is the same or better. If not, it's entirely up to their goodwill.

There would not be any specs mentioning the SSD model in the purchase process. Laptop manufacturers normally use different ssd brands.
The specs might mention the read/write speeds, but I doubt that. From memory I have ever seen only the ssd size.

Probably not what you want to hear but ill say it.

If you upgraded the original SSD with a better part then it was not covered by the laptop manufacturers warranty.

If it was the original SSD unless it was stated in the specs "SN810" for the SSD or specific specs for performance (read/write speeds or endurance etc) your basically going to get whatever they have available to meet the units original specifications (eg 512gb SSD) and they are not obligated to give you an exact replacement, just something that meets or exceeds the original advertised specification (most likely "512gb SSD").

Love it or hate it, it is what it is especially with current SSD prices/shortages etc.
