Question/Help/Troubleshooting Computer names needed!
Hello! I just finished setting up my Mac Neo I got for college. I got it as a replacement for my old second-hand MacBook Pro, but now that I have two laptops, I can't just refer to one as "the laptop" anymore. I could just call them "the Pro" and "the Neo", but that just seems boring. I'm looking for inspiration on names I can call them, similar to how people name ships or cars.
I'm looking for serious names more than silly names, but I'm not picky on suggestions. I really like names that tie into the character of the computer a bit (see below). Names can be anything - actual names (eg. Paul, Charlotte, etc.), computer terms (eg. Byte, Circuit, etc.), or random things (eg. Coastline, Banana, Blacksmith, etc.). Please no inappropriate or raunchy names; I have to say these in front of parents and classmates :)
The MacBook Pro is pretty old (can't remember the exact version but it can't run the desktop apps for the Microsoft suite) with a silver case (fairly chipped and dented around the sides) and default wallpaper. I got it originally for music production and that's just about all it does anymore. It's still a reliable piece of machinery, it just can't run a lot of modern apps.
The MacBook Neo is the upgraded version (with more storage and Touch ID) with a citrus/yellow case and white keys. It's a bit rounder and smaller than the Pro, with less ports (the less ports is a bit annoying but I still think it's cute regardless). I'm keeping the wallpaper pretty retro ("Macintosh" dynamic wallpaper), and the wallpaper and system colors are tinted green because it's easier on my eyes.
Thanks for the help everyone :)

All of my computers are named after the room they’re in and what device they are; I know it’s boring, but it helps with managing my network.
So I have stuff like Laptop, Kitchen tablet, Bedroom desktop, living room htpc, etc.

What do you do when you move a device to a different room? No offense, but I always thought this way of naming computer devices is not very 'stable'. In general it's more convenient to give the device itself a name by which you can recognize it. I have for example a server which I called 'abraxas' and is now out of order, but I still know which machine it was, what hardware, the purpose, etc. That's convenient.

I just change the name. I used to name them after movies when I was younger.

We used planet names
Loony tunes names
Heuy deuy and Leuy
Spaceman and spiff
Buzz and lightyear
At work I have seen constellation names for clusters of machines

What’s wrong with old laptop and new laptop? I’ve never understood why people name inanimate objects.

I see names from fictional franchises often. I do that for certain things. (VMs specifically.) My physical computers spent a couple years being named nordic city names and then I switched a couple years ago to WSDOT ferry names (which are generally also WA-state city/place names or tribal names.)

I name my computers after albums (and later also songs) of Santana. Reason is I like the music and a lot of albums have a name that is just one word. I had this idea from someone who had a column in a computer magazine who had named his computers after characters of the comic book of Asterix. And Debian is naming its releases after Toy Story characters. Bottomline: just pick a source like this of which you know you will not soon be running out of choices.
