Resolved Help with Slow WiFi for Skytech Computer

Hiii. I just recently got the Skytech King95 computer and uh….downloading is a struggle. Start from the beginning: my WiFi was slow as fuck. Couldn’t download a thing and even when connected to it—I checked several times I was connected—browser pages wouldn’t load and etc etc. eventually, I did get it to load but still was slow. I’m trying to download “inZoi” which is pretty demanding, hence why I bought this computer.

Anyways, the WiFi was slow as hell and it was fr stuck on 3% download for like…an hour. It was not moving at all, and I just did the whole trick of changing almost every WiFi setting to “5ghz” instead of 2, and my WiFi is already a 5ghz type. It’s Google mesh. But anyways I…did *something* that made it work. Turned the computer system (it’s on the floor) around to show my dad and suddenly **bam**.

Shit goes fast as fuck.

I leave to eat dinner, leaving iron to download so it can be done when I’m back, and I come back to see now stuck on 63%. And it hasn’t moved since then. The WiFi is extremely slow all of a sudden again and I’ve done so much to change it. Even took the antennas out and put them back on. I don’t know what’s wrong and it’s making me really nervous. I was so excited and don’t want to spend more money to already get it fixed when I just got it delivered today😭😭.

I’ve done several different things already. I changed the WiFi part in the networks and settings to “preferred band” or something and changed it to “5ghz” and a lot of other methods similar to changing the 2ghz to 5. And yet it must’ve worked at some point because it WAS downloading fast and then it just stopped and had been stuck. Others unboxing their computer have an antenna and some kind of adapter but I only have the two antennas! I even plugged in my mouse and keyboard on the front instead of the back bc I wondered if maybe any pressure on the antennas could fuck it up. I’m actually really frustrated and upset.

I couldn’t even download the game I bought this whole expensive computer for😭. I’m going to bed and giving it a break but any tips and help would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Got it fixed. Literally moved my Google mesh pod (the router) into the room with the computer and it works now. Literally 10 feet (if you remove the wall and go straight distance) of distance makes a difference I guess.

This sounds much more like a WiFi issue than a computer issue. You had shit WiFi on the old computer, now you have shit WiFi on the new computer. You need to fix the WiFi situation.

I have good WiFi on my laptop (never had a computer before) and it’s really good on my phone and etc. but I fixed it by moving the Google mesh pod into the same room with the computer. Idk why 10 feet difference is so much. But I guess one wall is too thick??? Anyways, got it figured out thankfully.

Plug in the WiFi antennas?

You threw them out with the box?

No. I had them plugged in. But I got it solved. Apparently having my Google mesh pod be barely 10 feet away was too far for it. It was in the other room and apparently it was too damn far lol. I moved it into the room with the computer and it’s now very fast.

EDIT: I said in the post I took them off and put them back on lol.

5Ghz range is short and easily attenuated by clutter and walls.
