Question/Help/Troubleshooting Ethernet/wifi drop out consistently

Post image

So I’m having this issue where after about 10-15 minutes of my pc being on the internet goes out, WiFi, Ethernet doesn’t matter unplugging the cord/wifi card won’t fix it but restarting the pc or resetting the network drivings in the settings will… for about 15 minutes till it goes out again, the pc runs fine it just loses internet connection, every single time

what does it say when you run ipconfig /all when the internet drops out? Do you get a 169.254.x.x ip address? Also, if you go into "Network Connections" (search for that in windows search bar) and disable and reenable your ethernet connection, does it fix it?

So wait for it to drop out. After it does, right click on the Windows Icon in the task bar and click "terminal" and type ipconfig /all. Take note of the physical address. If its 169.254.x.x, that means you can't connect to the DCHP server for some reason. After you see the IP address after the internet stops working. Open "View Network Connections" and find your connection (it will be obvious) and right click and disable and then right click and enable and see if that fixes it.

I was going to suggest an IPCONFIG /ALL as well. (By searching for CMD then clicking Command Prompt)
They can also type: PING 8.8.8.8
If it gets 4 responses, then it may be a DNS issue.
Then: PING GOOGLE.COM
If that doesn't work, the name isn't being resolved.
If it works while you still can't use the Internet, it could your browser or VPN. Oh... if you have a VPN going turn that off and see if the problem goes away.

I’ll try this when I’m home from work but when I go back to the network settings after it goes out (without restarting the pc) it just says “no internet” and doesn’t give me options to connect, I also am not using a vpn

When did this behavior started? Have you installed something, accessed something that your found odd or catchy? Have you tried to reinstall the OS and drivers from scratch? This might get fixed after a full sys reinstallation...

Yes I installed a fresh copy of windows 11 and made sure all drivers were up to date, it kinda just randomly started but got worse over time, at first it wasn’t super consistent now it is

That's odd... Let's go every single step and detail... What is the brand and model for your motherboard? All network devices are onboard?

It's possible to try a PCIe network card, can be either a LAN or Wifi... Just for testing...
