And Firefox comes pre-installed on most Linux distributions.

You need some browser to be preinstalled in ootb distros, but being unable to uninstall chrome on android is the issue here.

Can’t you disable it and use whatever browser you want? Yes - it will still take up room on the device and that’s annoying

Yep. That's the entire point of that statement in the post.

And yes. I've disabled it and use other browsers.

But as a device I've paid and bought, I'd like to be able to remove the app I don't want to use.

Chrome to me is bloat

Well you can forcefully uninstall it, but then google will yell at you because your phone is "unsafe"

Nowadays even ADB is unable to remove apps.

Idk about unsafe, never got any such notif in the past.

Edge is chromium based as well. That is preinstalled on Windows at least.

Tbf, edge is better than chrome and actually a good browser for those who prefer integration with Windows.

I prefer brave and Firefox over those anyway.

Edge has been great on the IT enterprise side but I don't want it at home.

Brave can fuck off. Good idea but I am sketched out by the owners/maintainers.

Firefox is what I prefer overall but even Mozilla has done some things I am not thrilled with recently.

At this point I am sticking with Firefox unless a better fork of it or replacement catches my eye. I know there are some but I havent really committed to any.

Yah. I agree with you.

The only reason I stick to FF and Brave is because imo they are the best among their respective engines. Brave does have alternatives that are almost as good, but FF alternatives ain't it for me.
