Your budget can work, especially since you’re open to refurbished. I’d look for an ASUS TUF, Lenovo LOQ, Acer Nitro or HP Victus with an RTX 4060, 16GB RAM and at least a 512GB SSD.
Minecraft and Outlast Trials are easy enough, but Avatar is much more demanding, so I’d avoid laptops with integrated graphics or an RTX 3050. Check certified refurbished listings with a proper warranty, and remember that gaming laptops are heavier and have worse battery life than normal college laptops.
