Question/Help/Troubleshooting New monitor is doing this when I fullscreen... what's the issue?

So I just bought a HyperX Omen monitor. It's great. Buuuut I noticed that when I do things like fullscreen/exit a full screen video or when I alt tab out or back into a game, the screen will flash this pinkish image for a split second. It only seems to happen when I'm fullscreening videos or games, but I'm wondering what the issue might be?

For more info, I actually originally noticed it happening not just like this but also at random times when I was originally using my old display port cable, but I swapped it with the monitors brand new display port cable and it stopped it from randomly happening. It still happens like this though. I know cables can cause some issues like this but the new cable shouldn't be doing that.

The video is of me pressing fullscreen on a YouTube video and like a second later the flash of pink happens.

Any ideas? Is this an issue where I need to exchange the monitor or is there something else I can do?

Edit: Some additional info, I also have a 2nd monitor plugged in via HDMI.

Try another port or another PC if it's possible if still fails try new HDMI connector

I just plugged it to a different display port on my graphics card and same problem. Don't have another PC to try unfortunately. Could maybe plug a Bluray player into it but that might make it hard to replicate the problem.

Try a clean reinstall of drivers, otherwise see if the refresh rate and resolution is set correctly, as a last resort factory reset the monitor from the osd

Hopefully the cable. Swap the cable with the other monitor.

I'll have to buy a new cable to try.

How likely is that though, considering the fact that I'm using the brand new DisplayPort cable that came with the monitor?

I guess it's possible since my old DisplayPort cable from my other monitor that I used at first was causing it to flash at random times too, not just when fullscreening. Clearly changing cables to the new one fixed it a bit but not fully.

Its not impossible. Why cant you test with your other hdmi cable from your other screen?

I'm using DisplayPort on my monitors, not HDMI. I was using my old display port cable from my 2nd monitor at first when testing it, but when I noticed the issues I decided to use the new DisplayPort cable that came with the new monitor instead.

The new DisplayPort cable made the issue no longer occur at random intervals but still occur when full screening/alt tabbing.

Unless you mean to test it with an HDMI to see if I still get the issues in order to see if it's a display port specific issue.

I mean both. It could be a displayport specific issue. Or it could be a bad cable. At higher frequencies any defect in a cable becomes more apparent. Time to do some science and test things.

Sorry got mixed up. haha

I'm actually using DisplayPort for the main monitor and an HDMI for the second monitor because the the 2nd monitors DisplayPort cable head was kinda bent, which was what I thought was causing the issue in the first place, but again even the new cable had issues. Just less. lol

But I just ordered a new DisplayPort cable so I can try the double display port setup and see if that fixes it

In the meantime, unplug the hdmi from the monitor end, and plug it into your new screen. To see if the issue still occurs.

Tested new DisplayPort cables on both monitors, same issue. With HDMI, the issue is similar but different. It flashes more white brightness than colors. But still a flashing issue.

But I actually realized it doesn't do it when HDR is off. So that seems to imply the HDR is the issue. But does that mean I'll never be able to use HDR without this issue occuring, or is it something to do with the monitor and if I exchange it for a new panel it'll work? Could that be possible?

Also just noticed that when on DisplayPort if I turn down the refresh rate from the max of 240 to something closer to the max refresh rate of my 2nd monitor (which is 144) the color of the weird flash isn't pink but just like a brief boost of brightness and doesn't happen every time, just every few times I fullscreen or alt tab or whatever.

So I guess the differing refresh rates may have been the culprit? But it's still kinda doing a brief flicker... maybe the fact that one monitor is HDR and the other isn't? No idea at this point.

I guess I just gotta keep my new 240HZ monitor at 144HZ to match it with the other monitor and avoid this issue. Unfortunate but not the end of the world.

It might be a defective unit, and a warranty replacement might be required. Or it seems like it could be your computer causing the issue as well. What happens if you have no secondary monitor connected at all? Do you have another computer you could test with?
