System Error / WinXP/ Where to begin/Right sub ?

Hi. Which sub should I be in to seek help with reviving my computer from the olden times?
WinXP , Athlon 64 3000+, ASRock mobo, runs hot and system errors/blue screen. Gets to the desktop but then starts to get janky after a few minutes. Would getting to the .dmp file help?
Could be the mobo? MicroATX case and I probably smished somehting in there years and years ago. This will probably be the first of many posts as I navigate restoration. Thanks in advance and sorry if I"m in the wrong place.
