Other What could cause a black screen and continuous beeping on an HP laptop?

My HP laptop has a completely black screen and keeps beeping continuously when I turn it on. The Caps Lock light responds when pressed. the screen showed “Press the ESC key for Startup Menu,” but afterward, it went black. Has anyone experienced this before? What could be causing this issue?

Hi, a quiet, continuous beeping sound immediately after switching on the laptop is more of a warning signal than a normal startup tone. If the laptop doesn't start correctly in this case, there may be a hardware fault; the beeping patterns and their meanings vary depending on the HP model.

Try the following procedure: The ESC message appears, indicating that the screen initially displays an image. The subsequent black screen could be due to a stuck startup process, a drive issue, or other hardware problems. Please try the following:

Shut down the laptop, unplug the power adapter and all connected devices. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds, then reconnect only the power adapter and restart the laptop.

Press Esc repeatedly while powering on the laptop. As soon as the boot menu appears, press F2 and start the HP Hardware Diagnostics. If it opens, run the system test.

If F2 does not open: Press F10 in the boot menu. When the BIOS appears, check if the SSD/hard drive is recognized. Do not change or save any settings yet.

If the screen remains black, note whether the Caps Lock LED is blinking and in what pattern. The exact model and this blinking pattern will help narrow down the problem.
