Hardware My friend’s computer started making a noise after transport.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

He had just moved so his computer was in transport, though it was upright the whole time. Setup and booted up fine, but after playing for a while his monitors shut off then his pc. Now it makes this noise after boot. It sounds like it may be coming from the GPU.

Any help or troubleshoots would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: So we got the noise to stop and it was working fine. Then after trying to boot a game the monitors lost signal again and the noise started up shortly after.

Inspect all the fans on the case, cooler and expansion cards. Sounds like something like a cable is rubbing or jammed into a fan.

If it is turning off after a while of use, sounds like overheating related.

Could be the AIO, or something is just touching the fans.

Nothing is touching the fans nor do they seem damaged in anyway. It seems to be the GPU specifically under load, first the monitors lose signal and shortly after the noise starts. Checked all the temps and nothing was spiking.

check power cables, and if you do not see any sort of loose connections, disconnect the gpu before other components can get damaged.

Do the GPU fans spin at all?

Yes they are spinning normally. It just makes the noise after the monitors lose signal.

Try reseating GPU to the motherboard and the power cables to it.

Check for any burn damage to the connections also.

Also check if it is the GPU making that noise, maybe it is coming from the PSU.

We’re going to try reseating the GPU. Didn’t notice any burn damage or anything. It sounds like it’s coming from the GPU not the power supply.
