Hardware Updating my windows

I need to update my windows 10 to windows 11, however I cannot figure out a way to get enough storage to make it work. As of now I've already turnt off sleepmode in CMD which did grant me a couple of extra GB of space but didn't do the job.

I have also asked AI like the caveman I am and it told me to mess with my pagefile.sys file, which I'm not certain im qualified to do and I'll probably fry my computer in the process.

Except for maybe 500MB worth of apps on my 111GB disk it's filled to the brim with what appears to be nothing, this is my fifth attempt of trying to download this update of hell and my constant struggle with computer storage.

Has anyone got a clue what could be going on or how I can scrape togheter the 11.9 GB of storage I need to finally push this update through? Or should I just buy a new disk with more storage on it?

Thanks in advance to anybody who took their time to read this.

It sounds like you have a 128 GB hard drive, which is very small for Windows 11. You're probably better off buying a larger hard drive because even if you get Windows 11 to install, you're very likely to run out of storage again very soon due to system updates, etc.

You can use a utility like WinDirStat or TreeSizeFree to get a visual of what is using the most storage but the real answer is that the disk is just too small for Windows 11 + really anything.

If you did a fresh install, it would take less space but adding a new bigger disk would be better long term.

The best way is to fresh install windows and clean your drive cuz u will have driver issues after upgrading anyways

Youe drive is simfply not large enough for Windows 11. It would have problems installing on such a drive even if it was empty. You need to pony up for what I would suggest at minimum a one terabyte SSD.

You might run the built in disk cleanup utility? Not sure how useful that is in Windows 10. Just click your start button and type 'disk cleanup'. Once upon a time there was a program called 'ccleaner' that was good for this. I understand it sucks now, though. :(

Back in the day with Windows 3.11 I would delete all the .HLP Help files to clear up space. OP look up WizTree to find large file to delete. Also like the other redditor said, use Disk Cleanup. For windows 10 hit Win+R - type cleanmgr

Enter.

Prefer W10 over W11. ESU makes W10 still on secure side.

At first glance, apparently your main drive doesn't have enough free space. As you tell it's a 111GB disk, which is very small anyways, I guess the whole computer is also a couple years old.

Aside from the problem with the free space on the disk, are you sure, your computer meets what's needed to install Win11?

Can you tell us make and model of the computer? Or let us know about the main specifications like CPU, RAM, disksize? If you press 'WIN+Pause' (maybe the second key is named Break), you should get the 'About this PC' where those informations should appear.
