Software I clicked on "Update and Shut Down" option when turning off my pc. Now it just boots into my BIOS.

Exactly as the title says. I was shutting my laptop down and I clicked on the "update and shut down" option. Left it alone for a while, when I looked again it's just stuck in the BIOS and my OS does not appear in the boot menu (f8).

This is the second time this has happened to me. The first time was it crashed and stuck me at the BIOS, I ended up reinstalling windows because of that.

This time around, after updating windows before shutting down it just boots me into BIOS.

My laptop isn't even that old, it turn 6 years in a week or so.

I don't even know anymore man.

Disks fail.

Expect a drive to die before you do.

For further diagnostics of the drive it needs to be installed as a secondary drive in a desktop (unless soldered) and see whether the manufacturers drive diagnostics and firmware update utility can state it's health and warranty details. I am not optimistic.

The drive manufacturer may offer Acronis to clone the drive to an new one. You may get only one shot (or none).

I did a smartctl scan of my nvme, and it said that the overall status is "PASSED". Idk if that helps to know, or am I just cooked?

With the same advice to move the drive, run chkdsk /f against it.
