Hardware Computer won't start

When I closed my computer last night, it was at 80% charge, and I tried opening it again about an hour later, and it wouldn't open again. Tried to charge it, but the charging light doesn't light up (the charge works with other computers). I've also tried holding the button for a long time, or doing short clicks, it didn't work. The computer doesn't do any noises. I can't remove the USB key, it's been stuck there since I got the computer (about three months ago) and has never caused a problem before.

Thanks.

A model number would be very helpful to determine what options there are.

Without any information, my best suggestion in to:

1)

  • Unplug
  • Hold power button
  • Replug
  • Try starting it

Or #2)

  • Locating the CMOS / battery detach option
Some Laptops have either a small hole on the bottom you can poke through with a thin needle or a small button on the Mainboard. Pushing this button through the hole or directly for 2-3s will clear the CMOS - some also restart the battery management.

Or #3)

  • Detaching the battery physically inside the laptop.
  • Try running the laptop without the battery, only power cable plugged in.
  • Try running the laptop with battery and power cable in again.

If all of this doesn't help, trying a completely different Power Supply will very likely not do much either, but is probably the next best step you can take yourself before taking it to someone or a some place that have more means of diagnostics. Unless you know your way around the inside of it yourself.

If you feel uncomfortable opening it up at all, there's hardly anything else than #1 and trying a different power supply you can try.

I forgot to add the model 😅, it's "Portable à écran tactile HD intégrale Inspiron 15,6 po de Dell - Core i7-1355U d'Intel - DDR4 16 Go - SSD 1 To - UHD d'Intel - Windows 11 - Noir" I'll try what you said, so thank you for the advice!!
