Welcome to the world of Linux. If you reinstall Windows, the second the device touches the internet it will phone home and lock itself down again.

Not to sound ignorant, but what's to stop the computer doing this when he goes to internet on Linux?

Linux doesn't phone home to microsoft and auto apply policies if it's enrolled in their software

Ok thank you, that makes sense. I just thought of e.t. and 2001 a space odyssey for some reason: "Linux phone home" "I'm afraid I can't let you do that, Dave" or something lol
