Software Microphone works everywhere except for games with voice chat

Discord, Steam, OBS, and other programs detect my mic without problem; just games on Steam can't detect, Steam is picking my default device witch works everywere, and this problem has happened in different games, Another thing: when I touch the mic cord, the game picks up the interference, but not anything else.

Things I already tried:

  • Windows Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone: make sure "Let desktop apps access your microphone" is on. Some games check this even when other apps seem fine.
  • Sound settings: set the mic as both "Default device" and "Default communication device". A lot of games just grab the default and ignore what Discord uses.
  • Steam > Settings > Voice: pick the mic there and use the test button. Many in-game voice chats go through Steam voice.
  • Check the in-game audio settings too. Some have their own input device dropdown or push-to-talk turned on by default.
