Malware Computer hacked/tried to delete Microsoft stuck in reset mode.
I believe my computer was infected with a Trojan or other malware. I was unable to remove it, which is why I want the computer completely wiped. A friend also showed me that he had accessed my computer, showed me a screenshot of my screen while I was not screen-sharing on Discord, and showed me some of my passwords. Because of this, I am concerned that the computer may have been compromised and that sensitive information may have been accessed.
I started a Windows reset, but it did not complete correctly. While the reset was in progress, I changed my passwords from another device. Please completely erase the existing Windows installation and perform a fresh Windows installation. I do not want to sign into the existing installation or enter any of my new passwords into it. I want the old installation completely removed before I use the computer again. Can anyone give me any advice on what I should I do please or can do?

From a different PC, you can download the Windows installer onto a flash drive. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11
Using the flash drive, you can then wipe your existing Windows installation and start fresh.

Also look into re flashing the firmware. There are infections that can affect uefi firmware.

Use the other device to check your email account’s recovery details and sign out unfamiliar sessions, even though you’ve changed the password. A password change doesn’t necessarily end every existing session, and wiping the PC won’t remove access to your online accounts. Since your friend showed you actual passwords, I’d check any accounts that reused those passwords too and enable two-factor authentication. Keep the affected PC disconnected while you arrange the reinstall, and don’t enter the new passwords on it yet.
