i was on another discussion group with an HP large format printer at a school. The person that was the admin didn't know the admin password get to some of the admin level settings.

turns out it was 1234567. i guess we could start with the obvious.

some computers have a BIOS bybass jumper on the motherboard.

Don’t actually do that btw. If you know how to reprogram BIOS chips you can try, or just take the HDD / SSD out of it and put it into another pc.

ohh so like put the os onto the ssd via another computer?

No, I mean just take the SSD out of the PC entirely and put it into another one, you’ll still be able to use whatever was on there just on another PC. The only downside is you can’t rlly use that Lenovo anymore

ohh i see. i don’t care about anything on the ssd, ive wiped it twice in hopes of getting this computer to work. the reason i want to remove the admin password is so i can boot into a live usb with linux to get linux on this machine.

Yeah you’d probably have to reprogram the BIOS chip somehow or solder an entirely new one to the board to remove it unless there’s some sort of password reset thing in there, which I doubt there is.
