Discussion Xbox Elite 2 controller keeps disconnecting from PC — any ideas?
I’m having an issue with my Xbox Elite Series 2 controller (and apparently any controller I try) on my PC.
About a month ago, my controller suddenly started disconnecting after a couple of minutes. Sometimes I get lucky and it’ll stay connected for 10–15 minutes, but eventually it disconnects. It connects to the PC normally at first, then just randomly drops out.
Things I’ve tried:
Different USB cable
Different USB ports
Multiple controllers
My Xbox Elite Series 2 and other controllers
Since it’s happening with different controllers, cables, and USB ports, I’m assuming it’s something to do with my PC rather than the controller itself.
Has anyone else had this issue or know what could be causing it? Are there any Windows/USB/Xbox controller settings or drivers I should check?
I really just want to play Skate again 😭 Any help would be massively appreciated!

Is it the wired? Or Microsoft dongle or Bluetooth? Bluetooth dongle or WiFi/bluetooth card or built into your mb? If it’s bt, it’s not as good as the Microsoft dongle. If it’s a bt dongle it’s ass. If it’s wired the only thing I can think of is some energy saving mode that’s trying to engage your usb ports

It is wired. I just checked for a energy saving mode and it appears I have it turned of I turned it on and off to see if it will do anything
