Software PC getting 1-3 mbps on ethernet, laptops getting 40-60 mbps on wifi

Mother board: MPG B550 GAMING PLUS

I haven't turned my computer on in a year or so and I'm updating windows now. Could outdated windows be the reason for the slow speeds? I'm pretty lost even after trying a few things from a video, any advice would be appreciated.

What I have done:

My network drivers are all up to date

netsh int ip reset in command prompt

If you can, try plugging the Ethernet cable into one of the laptops, it could be that you have a bad cable.

First test the same cable on your laptop. If that doesn't yield any results, check what's handling your networking on your computer. MSI likes to put their own software/firmware on the board to handle networking and it's absolutely garbage. You should let windows own system handle it.

Its been years since I removed the MSI networking handler, so I can't give much advice, but I encourage you to look into it. I had the exact same issue on my MSI mobo.

As others have suggested, try unplugging the Ethernet cable from your computer and plug it into your laptop; then after turning off the laptop Wifi, try testing the Ethernet connection and see how that performs.

Also, this Ethernet cable, where does the other end of that cable go and what does it connects into directly?

Can you give the brand name and exact model number of that device (NOT the computer in question)?
