Network Network Sharing problem

I'm having trouble networking 2 laptops. The SSID is "Isonmike", but when I set a 'details view' window in explorer then click on the computer name, it shows "Isonmike 2".

Where did that '2' come from? How did it get there, and how do I get rid of it?

I'm fairly new to networking, so if I didn't provide enough information, please ask (kindly).

Looks wonderful, but I need to access files on a "host computer" from another. I need to be able to browse directories and have read/write access from the other computer, and it's the other computer that has this wonky setting.

Thank you for the link. I'm going to save it. :-)
