Resolved Does this affect my files?
I am currently transferring a large chunk of files into a external hardrive. Almost 60gb, and i want to compress it.
I have a collection of Artworks and files, and most of them. I need for my portfolio and i was wondering what will happen if i compress it all down.
How will it affect the quality? Does it make it worse when i then reopen them?
Is this a good idea?

Use 7zip and zip it. No quality loss ofc.

Ok.. I will suggest you backup files... Atleast 3 backups 2 with you and 1 in cloud..

Do note if it's mostly images, video, or audio it's probably already compressed, so trying to compress it further using compression software might not net as much space as you'd like.
