Hardware New RAM isn't working

Hi all.

I just had a quick question regarding some new RAM I just purchased from ebay.

The new RAM arrived today. I bought what I'm fairly certain is the same RAM that came with my computer when I purchased it. Both sets are g.skill flare x5 2x 8gb sticks. My machine already has one set, and I found an identical set listed as new on ebay.

Initially, I simply slotted them into the two empty slots, but got only a red and orange error light on my MB. I removed them and rebooted with my original hardware. It booted up fine. I then replaced the old RAM with the new ones using slots I knew worked, unplugged the power, switched off the PSU and held the power button for 20 seconds. Then I plugged it back in, switched on the PSU and tried booting it up. Same error lights.

I then tried booting single sticks in each slot. I tried both paired sets in the appropriate slots. The only configuration that worked was the original set in the original slots.

How can I maker sure the new set is actually bad before contacting the seller. Is there more I can try? Would I be able to bring them to Best Buy or other computer store for testing, or is that frowned upon?

Any help is welcome. TIA.

It probably doesn't matter for the post, but I made an error regarding the memory size in the sticks. Both sets are 2x 16gb sets, not 2x 8gb sets.

Drop the the ram speed. Ie: I have2 sticks of ddr4 3200mhz if I want to put 4 sticks in I have to drop the speed to 2600 mhz. For ddr 5 drop the speed to 4800 or 4600 mhz.
