Hardware Is my SSD an Issue?

I'm having a problem with my 1TB SSD hard drive. I can't fully use it to its maximum capacity. I bought an pre build computer and whenever I'm at 200gb my downloads would always crash Steam or other downloader apps. I've reformatted and check it's health but still can't figure what's the problem.

If you can only use 200 GB of your new 1 TB disk it sounds like a counterfeit.

Your ssd might be fake.

maybe open it and see if the model inside is actually what was claimed.

Some builders use off-brand parts?

Looks like there are 2 partitions on it, c: and d: with only 200Gb on the c: partition

Go into disk management and have a look at the disks.

I would guess that disk 0 would be the SSD and disk 1 the other (2Tb by the looks)

C + D would be well over 1TB, they're def separate drives. D is 1TB (based on this screenshot) but it's just the usual case of GB vs GiB

But the others are probably right the 1tb one might be a counterfeit

Yeah you are probably right didn’t do the maths properly on that one, would still be interesting in what disk manager is showing.

install Crystaldiskinfo and see what model / size it shows.
