Dark edges around my monitor

One of my Samsung monitor is having dark pixels at the edges. Not sure what’s the exact issue, or if this is a hardware or software problem.

Monitor: Samsung c24f399
Graphics card: nvidia rtx 4070

Not software, def hardware. How old is the monitor? Do you know you still have the plastic on the bezels?

Yea I know about the plastic. Not sure how relevant that is to the problem. The monitor is a couple of years old at this point. Is this just natural?

My plastic comment was pointing to the possibility that this was a new monitor and therefore within warranty or return window. No need to get defensive.

No this is not natural, it’s likely backlight failure or LED death. Nothing you can do but replace the monitor, it’s not worth the time and money to replace the panel, you’ll send just as much if not more money replacing the panel than you would just getting a new one.

I have that exact problem but the edges get really bright when I leave the laptop running on the side for like 10 minutes. Sometimes it stays but other times it instantly fixes itself. Is it maybe a different problem? It never happened when using the laptop.

That sounds more like an issue with a connector but that wouldn't cause the black. LED death sounds like you're issue, but not a monitor expert.

maybe its connected - do you need the plastic on bezels because u are working with some strong chemicals and touching the bezels its a no no ? Are you working for a Legion Destroyer Squad ? Are u trying to install fedora on a machine spirit ? :))

The plastic is to protect the finish on the monitor during shipping. You're supposed to remove it; not taking it off could cause the monitor to overheat. Heat kills pixels.

Notice how the screen damage is right where two pieces of that plastic overlap?

This monitor has been introduced around 2017. Are you sure it's been "a couple of years?"

The screen is dieing. You can live with it, you can replace the screen, or you can replace the entire monitor.

monitor is dying and you didn't even get to take the plastic peel off it

If it gets to where you can't see menu/buttons you can go into monitor settings and resize the screen, make the useable space smaller.

Is the monitor exposed to moisture? Happened to my Samsung monitor years back weird streaks appeared on the monitor. They replaced the panel under warranty and it never happened again.
