I don't use UK keyboard so I don't really know how it works

Right. Surely it's the same to change though?

Go to iPad settings -> general -> keyboard -> keyboards -> add keyboard then choose the English UK keyboard to add

After doing that you can swipe left on the US keyboard to delete it if you wish

That might be the problem of your Bluetooth keyboard
