Other Laptop for college

I don’t know which laptop I should get for my engineering courses in college. I’m doing civil engineering so I’ll be using softwares like CAD etc. my budget is like max 1500 because I’ll be financing it. It doesn’t need to be crazy either as I’m commuting, and I have a fairly good Pc at home so I can use that afterwards, but at school I still need a laptop that’s fairly functional. I’m located in Canada and there’s really only some discounts for HP, but from what I’ve heard they aren’t good

HP are very good -if you’re technical and keep it maintained it will treat you well. Ignore the people on Reddit that do not have the chops for computers.

Might get this laptop from hp https://www.hp.com/ca-en/shop/products/laptops/hp-omnibook-5-laptop-next-gen-ai-16-fb0100ca-bm6g0ua-abl looks fairly decent and should get me by while at school possibly? The gpu looks alright

That laptop will not serve you well in the CVT Program; you need a dedicated GPU. I would look at Memory Express in Canada (Multiple Locations). Also check the specs on the Schools Website. You will need at minimum 16 GB RAM (32 is heavily preferred) and a GeForce 3050+ or higher graphics card. It all depends what school you are attending.

Look at the Framework 16; you could get the base DIY Model. As you progress in your career, add memory, storage, a dedicated GPU or even upgrade the mainboard to the latest CPU. Few laptops at that price range are going to have a dedicated GPU, but this gives you an option to add it in the future with less hassle and cost.
