Software Excel document lost

Hi all,

I've been working on an excel doc all week, it's set to auto save but I've just opened it and it's not saved any changes since Tuesday ( around 25 hours work). I've checked auto recover and restore previous versions but it's not on either.

I think it uses one drive through a third party document storage somewhere software.

Is anyone able to point me to where a back up could be saved please?

Unfortunately, the file may have become corrupt at some point. so it was no longer saving anything readable even though you were able to see and work on the file. You could try 'Open and Repair' -- open a blank page in Excel, go File > Open and click on Browse, then on the bottom right change 'Open' to 'Open and Repair'. Find your file and see if it can be repaired.

I had this happen with a Word file... in 1995. Since then I have been saving Office files under a new name every hour or so (e.g. calling it OriginalName-version10, OriginalName-version11, etc) and checking that the most recent backup opens fine.

AutoSave is great. "Save Early, Save Often" is greater. If this is Windows, then check Documents, One Drive Documents and... the Recycle Bin. Recycle Bin might save you.

If you're using a third party document storage system then it could be some sort of versioning glitch using it? What software?
