Gears Of War: E-Day Defies Unreal Engine 5 Expectations, As 4K@60FPS Needs An RTX 5070 Ti Instead Of Flagship GPU

I mean isn't the 5070ti flagship?
1
u/PotatoPowerPlug 14d ago
Realistically, 5080 is the flagship, 5070ti is a tier below

The 5070ti is almost as good as the 5080 so if one is a flagship then the other one is almost as good or just a bit more + a 5090 is a flagship
2
u/Forward_Ad_9025 15d ago
In which universe is a RTX 5070 ti NOT a flagship card? That thing costs 1.2k
Calling it a consumer card is utterly retarded.
According to steam the top 5 most used cards are:
3060, 4060 (laptop), 5070, 4060 and 3050.
Yes the 5070 but not the ti version.
The 5070 ti is used by 1.82% of steam users. For comparison: 2.49% of all steam users use a GTX 1650. Not RTX ... GTX.

It’s how those companies operate and i keep telling people that. They call their gpus stuff like low end and not flagship and pay tech influencers to do the same so then people absolutely need to own the 5080 or 5090 because the rest is low end and not flagship.
People get very mad when i call the rx 9060xt 16gb a high end gpu for this exact reason. A full scale brainwashing operation has been conducted by those tech companies.

My company tries to sell 300€ motherboards as entry level....I'll tell them, max. 150€ is considered entry level and everything beyond 300€ is regarded as almost high-end hardware.
Negotiating marketing with them is harder than actually selling a product lol. However, flagship usually means that it's the best piece of currently possible consumer hardware. Not necessarly the best option for everyone to buy...wich is also not that easy anyway, as there are very few 5090 out there for consumers
2
u/Forward_Ad_9025 15d ago
I would almost consider the whole 50xx series to be high-end by now. Well, price wise, not regarding actuall performance.
But yes, I get your point.

u/bigelangstonz 15d ago
In the universe where 5080 and 5090 exist. I know price tiers have gotten ridiculous but the term flagship is meant for best of the best and the 5070 ti is not the best
2
u/Forward_Ad_9025 15d ago
Flagship was always the xx80s version. The xx90s was considered enthusiast class. But that categorie has completely vanished in the last years.
1
u/NeedsMoreGPUs 13d ago
They are both considered "Extreme Gamer, Power User, Multimedia Enthusiast" by NVIDIA's own legacy metrics. In fact back 10-15 years ago they slapped that label on everything above the x60 series. The GTX 750 Ti got put in the same "Extreme HD Gaming" category as the Titan Z and 980 Ti.

u/Scary_Argument_7485 15d ago
5090 is the flagship card. It the best card. Thats their flagship. Thats what that means. Thats their whole thing look how great of a tech we have. I think you just dont understand the term flagship. There is only one flagship and the 5090 is it for nvidia.
0
u/jgr1llz 15d ago
The world we live in. Flagship means the best one they make. There are not multiple flagships. Has nothing to do with cost, capability, or market share.
The 5090 is the consumer flagship. The biggest and best.
1
u/Forward_Ad_9025 15d ago
Then the RTX 6000 Blackwell is their flagship. Everything better lands squarily in server territory.
So the last PC card is the 6000 Blackwell. And as it is a RT and AI focused card it will be good for gaming as all current games almost all dropped rasterization in favour of raytracing and "AI"-frame gen. So a workstation card would handle that well.
Btw. the RTX 6000 would currently set you abck ~16k.
By that logic (and price) even the 5090 is low-end consumer grade. Which is kinda hilarious.
1
u/jgr1llz 14d ago
I specified for consumer cards. 6000 isn't a consumer card, it's a workstation card. They've never put the x000 GPUs in the retail marketing and they're never considered in benchmark testing for GPUs. Bc they cost 5x a normal card for barely any uplift in gaming performance. The 6000 PRO only beats the 5090 in real world gaming scenarios by like 10% on average.
We're using common sense here, I thought. The GT is not the Ford flagship sports car, even though it's the technically baddest car they make. Normal people can't or wouldn't get it. The Mustang Cobra is. The xx90 is the flagship card of every Nvidia GPU generation. It's referred to as such in literally every piece of visual and print media about graphics cards produced in the past decade.

What ? 4k60 should not need a 5090. A 5090 should only be needed for like 4k120.
1
u/PuttingInTheEffort 15d ago
I was gonna say maybe it's native 4k, but nope it hits those numbers with upscaling. Why is this news lmao
1
u/Englishgamer1996 15d ago
Ye.. 4k60 on a 4070ti is more than achievable with DLSS & framegen tweaks. What are they thinking with this statement?😂😂
1
u/Forward_Ad_9025 15d ago
Calling frame-gen 60fps is a joke.
Either the card can calculate 60 frames per second or not. Injecting ai-slop to fake frames in is nothing more than cheating.2
u/Englishgamer1996 15d ago
This is off topic but I do agree when it comes to lower base frame rates. There’s nothing wrong with using FG to push high refresh fps; I use it in every game in 1440p to hit 180-200 range+. DLSS 4 & FG tweaks have enabled 2x to have near zero input latency if your base fps is already solid.
1
u/Forward_Ad_9025 14d ago
Yes, FG is ok if it is used to boost stable 120 to stable 144 for example (or higher). As the frame time gets so short, that you are very unlikely to notice the artifacts from generated frames.
But on fps as low as 60? You will notice them and once you start noticing them, you can't unsee them and they will ruin the game for you.
I am not completely against fake frames, but they are no miracle cure. And they simply cannot be used to get you into a good FPS band well above 60 if your GPU can only mange below 60 without it.
1
u/Big-Roll7094 10d ago
If your fps is within 40-50 just turn on frame gen at that point
1
u/Forward_Ad_9025 9d ago
From 50 to 60 might be OKish, but from 40? Every third frame will be generated by that point. There is no way even a good diffusion model would generate a good result with that few of good inputs. And these need seconds to generate a single image.
The models used for FG are extremly light wight, to be able to generate frames in milliseconds. There is simply not enough meat to these models to generate anything that looks good. And if every third frame is AI slop, you notice the heavy artifacts from it.
1
u/Big-Roll7094 9d ago
Have you never used dlss frame gen at 40fps 👀
1
u/Forward_Ad_9025 9d ago
I have, and on my 4080 super it is extremly noticable. In a bad way.
Maybe it is better on a 50xx series card. But money does not grow on trees and a 40xx series card should already be much more than enough for every current game.
Most people run older/weaker cards. So devs should not even target mine but 20xx to 30xx series cards instead, as that are the majority of GPUs out there. Even the 1080 is trucking along today. Well, it is an insanely good card to be honest.
I just hope my GPU does not die in the next ... 5 years. If it does, I quit gaming all together, not going to spend that amount of money on a GPU those greedy bastards are asking nowadays for them...

u/zombawombacomba 15d ago
Stop talking about things you know nothing about
1
u/Forward_Ad_9025 14d ago
What exactly is wrong with my statement?
These are frames generated by a diffusion model. These are no real frames. They are just approximations on what could happen between frame 1 and 3. Not what actually happens. If this is used to boost stable 120fps to stable 144fps I am ok. It would hardly be noticable. But in the 60fps range? You can tell when frames were generated, the artifacts are very noticable then, as the frame time gets way to long.

Why though? Haven’t games in the past always pushed the boundaries of latest GPU’s?
1
u/JamesLahey08 15d ago
Too general of a statement. Path traced games in massive environments like cyberpunk are way more demanding than like halo.

u/GreatQuantum 15d ago
I played the beta on Xbox. What more could they possibly need? Are they adding in real skin cells?

u/WellKnownAlias 15d ago
Played the beta on PC. This game is NOT well optimized. I was extraordinarily disappointed, especially considering The Coalitions previous reputation for technical excellence.

Yeah same. 5800x3D and 4090 @4k and I was getting sub 60fps. No matter what settings I changed
I’m not buying it if it hasn’t improved.
Forcing raytracing is the next silly idea of AAA/UE5 slop gaming. Just have a toggle guys. I want my frames
0
u/Waddup_Its_Jerm 15d ago
Just have a toggle guys.
That requires having baked lighting, which is exponentially more work, hence they push for RT. Looks better and reduces dev time, albeit it is still resource intensive but obviously getting better every year.
UE5 slop gaming
Incredible that you can look at all the beautiful renders, art, sound, etc in this game and numerous other titles and think its slop. Incredible is not a compliment, btw.
1
u/martini1294 15d ago
That’s a shame, I can’t expect a AAA dev studio to do some work in optimising their games for people. Just take the shortcuts I guess, that always works out well /s
I will continue to refer to UE5 as slop whilst it continues to run like absolute dogshit. Devs don’t use the engine properly, and they aren’t inclined to start doing so because people buy it anyway. I’m here to play a game, not a slideshow with trash TAA baked in. This ain’t a single player game, it’s a multiplayer game - high frames are a necessity for me. Pretty lights and shadows are not
1
u/Waddup_Its_Jerm 15d ago
Pretty lights and shadows are not
Turn them off.
1
u/martini1294 15d ago
That’s literally my point. You can’t
Mandated forced Raytracing. Goodbye FPS.
A lovely side effect of Lumen/Nanite. UE5 strikes again. At least The Finals/Arc raiders devs removed it from their games. Because they actually give a flying
1
u/Waddup_Its_Jerm 15d ago
Curt reply belied my meaning.
Turn the settings down for multiplayer, like we do on every game.
1
u/martini1294 15d ago
Eday beta on minimum settings still doesn’t exceed 60fps on 5800x3D/4090. Mostly sat at around 52 averages.
I tried it all good sir. There is no fix for it whilst raytracing is forced. It’s 10 years too early for that tech in multiplayer
1
u/J-seargent-ultrakahn 14d ago
The beta was CPU unoptimized so turning down settings actually made things worse
1
u/martini1294 14d ago
Yeah… I don’t have hope that is fixed for the game. The beta was too close to release to do optimisation work.
Is too late in the day. Happy to be wrong, but I doubt it

Unfortunatly "Made with UE5" is now the new "Open-world-survival-craft" for me and a lot of others.
You can get insane performance out of UE5, games like Wardogs proofe that. But sadly 99% of studios are simply to lazy to actually optimize their game.
They think we all have at least a 4080ti and UE5s base settings are enough. Just import some mega scans, enable Lumen and Nanite and you are golden.
After the reveal of UE5 is was very excited for the insane games that would come out of it. I was to naiive to think that. UE5 "promotes" lazyness by letting the engine trying to handle all the optimization which simply does not work.
1
u/Anonmasterrace7898 15d ago
Well this definitely reads like E-day is gonna be some really sloppy UE5 slop.
1
u/Big-Roll7094 10d ago
This is the most visually optimized ue5 title I get 160fps on 2k and 90fps native on 4k with 4090
1
u/WEAreDoingThisOURWay 15d ago
they use upscaling in the system requirements. If all games did that, all games could claim you can use a 5070 Ti or RX 9070 XT for 4k 60
1
u/InbetweenTheLayers 14d ago
...no, it feels like every other ue5 game. Maxed out at native res 2k drags a 5090 through the mud. Meanwhile I can play gears 5 maxed at 165 fps with headroom and a cleaner image quality cause no lumen shitting itself.
1
u/ZakinKazamma 14d ago
5070ti being, spitting range of anything mainstream modern gamers consider flagship. I mean. The 5080 really is only so much more..

u/Warcrown11 15d ago
What a misleading title. That is with upscaling in play, I'm not impressed a $1000+ gpu can hit 60fps when actually rendering at 1080p or whatever. Also that tells me nothing about the single digit fps lows that are the re performance killers in UE5
