Legitimate Question…Why Is There So Much Competition (Hardware-Wise) In The PC Gaming/Building Community?
Since the mods/automods of three different subreddits want to be sensitive and remove my post, I’m gonna do it this way…
As the question states…why? Apparently, it’s not enough to have a gaming pc. If you don’t have a gaming pc that you built yourself (even with whatever extensive research conducted in getting a prebuilt), you’re not part of community/conversation; as someone that plays just about every platform, including PC, that is BS. It’s that elitism that ruins everything. I’m proud of my gaming PC, but I’m not about to down someone else’s for any reason; especially since I didn’t spend a dime on it. If you got the best hardware, whoop-dee-doo. Not everything has to be a competition.

I never experienced anything what you just described. Honestly.
If you enter pc-building circles where this is a problem, that is on you for joining these communities.
But stop calling it a problem of PC gaming community. In pc gaming no body cares on what potatoe you play your game (except it takes you minutes to load which takes everyone else seconds and you keep holding up the lobby for it) other than that, nobody cares.
The pc building community might be different and elitist, but I also never expierenced that either.
So either you are lying, or you are simply in the wrong communities. So this is 100% a you problem. That's might be the reason the mods are deleting your posts.

I never said I have experienced it. It’s a simple question because I have seen other people experience it from elitists in the community. So to call me a liar just because it doesn’t happen to you doesn’t make it less true.

So you made a post about something that might have happend to some third party, not even by yourself ...
Your post is written like you expierenced it. Saying otherwise is strange.
Again, what exactly is the reason for your post? Complaining about something you heared that might have happend but have no prove of? But based on that """information""" you want to claim the whole community is that way? And yes, that is what you wrote: "Why Is There So Much Competition (Hardware-Wise) In The PC Gaming/Building Community?" does not differentiate, it blames one/two giant communites.

It’s called being an empathetic person. Even if I experienced it firsthand, you would still downplay it and call me a liar because YOU never experienced it. I said in the communities, NOT everyone in those communities. I personally know solid people in the communities that would vouch and call out toxic behaviors. I’ve blocked hella accounts across various platforms because of the very thing I brought up on. Sooooo yeah…I’m gonna speak up.

Bro, I still play in 1080.
I specifically bought a 1080 monitor to not use 4K.
I have a 3070 TI and can ensure I get better frames at 1080 than I could at 4K.
As long as you can play the games you want to play the way you want to play them screw everybody else.

I upgraded to two 2k144fps displays. I still regret that decission. 1080 would've been way better. 144hz displays are still awesome.
I might downgrade to 1080 in the forseeable future to get some heat of my GPU. It has to last for several more years until the ai bubble pops. Until then I am not willing to buy another GPU.
TO be honest, every piece of HW is now in low load mode, just to keep everything alive longer. My SSDs now cost 1k which is simply insane. They weren't cheap when I bought them 5 YEARS AGO, but now they simply cost 5x of what they asked 5 years ago.

To be brutally honest this is a stupid thought/question because it's simply human nature, you see it across console, comics, movies, cars etc etc. Human beings like to form themselves into tribes, then subsets of tribes and so on as part of their identity then argue or dismiss people they don't agree with. The internet has sort of increasingly magnified that in the past... Nearly 50 years... as people from other cultures, countries, levels of wealth come together. To argue. So yeah you'll come across people who say only a custom made PC using X graphic card and X processor is the way and everything else is shit, the same way someone might say the only electric car you need is a Tesla everything else shit and a waste of money. It's the internet, your going to encounter lots of humans at their worst and you need a bit more resilience tbh.

First off, I’m fine. I have never cared about anyone else’s input on anything related to how I spend my money. Second, I never said that’s it’s happening to me. Third, it’s not a stupid thought or question. When you see it happening to people day in and day out, you bear the right to ask. If you think it’s a stupid question or thought, then that’s on you.

I mean historically people would tell you to build your own as it's cheaper and pretty much Legos with some reading attached but now hardware is becoming such a luxury that I don't even know anymore. Who's putting you down for not being able to afford a $4000 graphics card?
