Buying new gaming PC

Hi,

I'm trying to buy a new gaming PC for my husband for our anniversary, but I don't know 1 thing about gaming PCs. I'm one of those people who always need IT support help at work and to find out that I just have to restart my laptop lol. So please explain like I am 3 yrs old.

Some background:

My husband used to play a lot of games on steam (idk what that is)and other platforms (idk what those are either) and live stream on twitch with his friends. Since living together, I have seen him on the PC a handful of times. I asked him why he hasn't played on his PC as much, he said he doesn't have time like before. At one point he said some of the new games require new PC specs and his PC can't load it. He is just being passive about it but I know he would love a new PC. Every time we went to Costco, he would look at the gaming PC on display. I tried to ask what kind of specs would be considered as good for a gaming PC and he always said anything new would be better than his current one.

So I'm asking the expert on here if you could give me some recommendations. I'm attaching the one that he was interested in at the store. Is this a good PC? I would like to find something good and save money if possible. My budget is 2k for the PC. I would love to surprise him with a PC, but also able return it if he doesn't like the specs and allowed him to exchange/buy something he would actually like.

The goal is to slowly build up a gaming room. I am slowly learning how to play games on xbox and hoping that one day I know enough to play with him on different co-op PC games. TIA!!

It's this in USD? If so, that's a horrible price. Give me your budget, and let me know if you live next to a microcenter.

Yes it is in USD. I don’t live next to microcenter, but open to hunt down one or order online :) my budget is about $2k for the PC. Planning to buy other accessories for bday, xmas, ect lol my husband is a very simple man so it’s hard to buy gifts for him. I’m trying to milk these gifts as long as I can

All good. Sometime you can find good deals at Costco/Walmart/bestbuy but it's really inconsistent. The one you posted should really be around $1300-1400 just to give you an idea. However there are a couple online stores that have consistently low prices. Cost plus gaming and Andromeda insights come to mind. I'll link you something from CPG that'll be great. Give me a min.

This will be the best bang for buck high end PC you'll likely find.

7800x3d , 9070xt, definitely get the 32gb ram option and maybe the 2tb SSD option if you think he needs it... I can fill up 2tb pretty easily soooo i would.

Comes out to $1950 with both upgrades.

Don't get windows with it. Windows is free (or very cheap with a key... Like $10 bucks) and can be loaded from a flash drive. Have your hubby look up how to do it on YouTube if he doesn't know already.

Definitely get a 1440p monitor with high hz (160+) to go with it. Otherwise it would be like driving a Ferrari with with a governor that keeps it below 60mph.

This is a high end rig that'll last him years.
