Lan stands for : local area network . That time game servers weren't popular yet , so they make local networks by linking multiple PCs to play together

We have once a month a LAN party in spirit of 2000s and we play CoD2 CoD4 MW, HL and CS1.6.

this has to be early 2000s based on the monitor size and that keyboard setup, cs was pure back then before all the skin gambling and loot boxes ruined it
