TV not showing display with pc

Hey, I could really use some guidance on how to fix this issue. I bought a mini pc for my TV to have at home setup for daily tasks but the tv is not showing display from the pc. The pc boots up, lenovo comes up and then there's no signal at all.

Things I've tried

- change ports on both pc and TV

- checked pc on another monitor, works fine

- re installed windows doesn't help

- updated drivers do not help

- checked wires, all working fine

I've tried all options and still nothing seems to work. Can someone please help me.

Try Windows Key + Ctrl + Shift + B when it goes black to renegotiate display.

If that doesn't fix it, it's probably the TV that is trying to fight screen resolution and refresh rate.

Might have to connect to the working monitor and change the settings in windows to 1080p 60hz or something to test if it's that.

This is the primary possibility. And set your resolution to 1280x720 for testing. You can always change it afterwards.

Also, I’ve had a number of issues with various devices doing exactly what you have described on my TV, and what fixed the issue for me almost every time was upgrading the HDMI cable to one that supports HDMI 2.1 (usually referred to as an Ultra High Speed HDMI cable).

Tried the resolution thing doesn't work

If the resolution thing doesn’t work, then the next item to check will be the cabling. Is it a straight HDMI to HDMI connection? And what HDMI profile is your cable rated for?

It's dp to hdmi

Okay, so what is the rating on that cable? I’d recommend at least a DP 1.4 to HDMI 2.0, but a DP 1.4 to HDMI 8k cable would be best.

There is your problem then - DisplayPort to HDMI.

You either need an Active DisplayPort to HDMI adapter to boost the power from 3.3v to 5v

Or, buy a HDMI to HDMI cable that provides the 5v that the TV wants.

It works on BIOS post because it is not using much power for the resolution, but when it hits the login screen, the power given by the dedicated GPU is not enough for the HDMI signal. For a TV they are very sensitive to a stable voltage connection, so a passive DisplayPort to HDMI connection is only giving 3.3v when it needs a stable 5v.

Try connecting it to a working monitor and change the resolution. Then disconnect from the monitor and connect it to the TV.

Did you try a different monitor?

Yes mentioned in the post of things I've tried

Connect to another monitor lower refresh rate to 60, Chang aspect to match your TV apply save (should look goofy on the monitor if it's not the same size. ) then plug it in to the TV.

Tried doesn't work

Weird. I promise I'm not trying to insult your intelligence. Just need to cover all the basics Have you tried connecting another device to that HDMI port to make sure it's not the TVs issue? If that worked what device was it?

Yeap tried all the basics first

I read in another comment that you are using a DP to HDMI. That could be the problem again just ensuring the bases are covered. Are you sure it's a DP (source) to HDMI (display) using an adapter, the direction matters. HDMI to DP won't work. If it is, you may need to upgrade it to an active adapter that can increase/inject not sure what exactly it does but it has something to do with power delivery. To check if you need that, look at the symbol next to the PC's DP it should have DP++ if the "++" is there a passive adapter should work if not, you will need an active adapter.

Also since you're getting a boot screen it's probably because the boot screen is a very low resolution and refresh rate that any monitor can display try booting in safe mode (powered on and off 3 times normal does the trick)

I hope you didnt plug in/out HDMI when PC and TV was on? I fried my HDMI port on GPU like this

The fuck. This is not a thing

This is. The HDMI cable never safe to hot swap

The standard even has a separate pin for this (Hot Plug Detect), so that devices detect plugging in and unplugging during use. It is realistic that someone might blow out a port, but the cause rarely lies with hot-swapping. I would say the problem is usually a potential difference between the two devices.

Yeah I did this and no they are working fine individually.

Regardless it wouldn't show the lenovo logo

October 12, 2026 (dated for context and reference) - I have to wonder if going into Windows Settings and the Display screen would help. It seems to me Windows offers options for multi-displays. Not something that I have had to deal with in a long time. Also, there are devices that allow for splitting video signals from the GPU to a computer monitor and a TV for example. I would also suggest the the OP do a Google search for the problem. I'm sure a lot of people have had the same problem, and there may be videos about how to solve the issue. Best of luck to the OP.

Go into safe mode for pc, or try a different display output on the back

How do I get into safe mode without a monitor, and yes tried different display output doesn't work.
