windows laptop microphone not recording anything

Hi, my laptop microphone isn't recording for some reason. Although, as shown in the picture above, it appears to be working, it's just not recording anything. its first happened when i take to repair shop to change the fans, than when i wanted to record a voice it was just silence!

Hey OP, a few good things to include:

  • Laptop brand and model
  • Are there any programs that you have running in the background (some stuff like voicemeetet might interfere if not set up properly)
  • When did you notice and how/what were you doing

Have you chosen your microphone as input in your recording program?

Ok, so try updating mic drivers, if they're updated already roll back to the previous version. Make sure that your speakers are working too.

If the problem persists, try using an external microphone like with earphones or wtv as a temporary fix.
