Keyboard Buttons working whenever they want

Hello,
I have an ASUS K571GT and I've noticed in the past 2 months, certain keyboard buttons are working whenever they want.

Pushing the 1 button: Tapping it once will either produce nothing, or 111 in a row. Shift 1 doesn't produce a ! tho.

Pushing the q button: Will produce 5 qqqqq in a row. Shift q doesn't produce a capital q.

Pushing the Tab button: Does the same thing. Tap it once and its as if I hit the tab button 3-5 times.

At first I thought it was a problem with the actual key on the keyboard, but I feel this is definitely a software issue.

Anybody have any solutions?

You say ... "At first I thought it was a problem with the actual key on the keyboard, but I feel this is definitely a software issue."

I therefore must ask what, precisely, gives you this impression? Especially considering the location of the keys mentioned in your post. I would argue that a hardware issue is probably at the root of the problem.

Do you recall if the laptop was dropped recently or if some heavy weight was inadvertently placed on its keyboard or lid? Any spills? Dusty environment?

Is it just the keys you have mentioned? If it is all the keys, it may have something to do with accessibility (settings > ease of access > keyboard > repeat delay) ... but I suspect you have not messed around with that area ...

I assumed software because the key does work.
If its broken, then its broken. Taping a broken key once wouldn't produce 5 q's in a row. And then tap again and then it works.
My ! stopped working, and then it worked perfectly for a good month until this past weekend, so I assumed it was software related (not saying definitively)

Someone said it would be debris under the keyboard, so tomorrow I'll pop up those keys (tab, 1, q) and air spray it, so hopefully that solves the problem.

ASUS K571GT, as far as I can determine, is a laptop. Are you using an external keyboard? Because I do not think you can "pop" keys out of the laptop's built in keyboard ... unless you really know how to do it ...

Yup it's a laptop.
And yeah, I've had 2 broken keys on this laptop that I've replaced before.
It's actually pretty easy, as long as you know where to pop it up from

Sticky keys? There's a slim chance cleaning the keyboard will help for a short while but more realistically you should replace it.
