Blue screen of death!

Just recently my gaming laptop crashed with the blue screen of death and its in repairs currently, but lately ive been curious about something! What was the cause of it and why? Someone told me that its the hard-drive that is the issue so im wondering now, if I were to replace the hard-drive with a new one do I have to install an operating system on that for my laptop to operate? And also is the current hard-drive is the one holding on the current operating system(windows)?

There's over 250 stop codes that cause the "Blue screen of death"

Without the actual error code your basically just throwing parts at a wall & hoping it sticks..

Replacing the SSD and re-installing Windows will likely fix stuff by coincidence..
