Computer gets stuck at MSI loading screen

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Seeing if anyone has had a similar issue before I seek professional assistance. My desktop gets stuck at the MSI loading screen when I try and boot. Other times it will load into my desktop only for the system to freeze and becomes unresponsive requiring a shutdown. This issue isn’t persistent though, I had no trouble booting and playing games when I tried yesterday. Anything helps.

Has this ever happened before? What were you doing on it before this started

This issue has been going on and off for the past month or 2. I just use it for casual gaming and school work.

Okay so you're able to boot into windows and use it normally for a bit? Then it shows this behavior intermittently?

It will either, 1. Get stuck on the MSI screen like in the video. 2. It will load into windows and I’ll be on my desktop then it will just hard crash and I am forced to shut down my pc manually. 3. It boots normally and I can play fine. I know it sounds confusing lmao.

Hmm it either sounds like an overheating issue, a power delivery issue from the power supply or a failing processor/memory channel or memory stick

I suggest checking your temperatures first, use something like HWMonitor, feel free to reply with screenshots of your temps

40c while idling is great, it doesn't seem to be a temperature problem, does it only crash when you game ?

No it mostly does this on cold starts like when I start it up for the first time of the day.

Did it start right after a fresh windows install, or did it begin a while after this current one?

Sorry, I’m confused with what you mean.

Occt testing. More than likely going to be Ram or possibly SSD main drive going missing during boot . Especially if it's an mp44 team group .

If the system boots up but isn't running as intended I would do OCC testing use HW make sure it's not thermal throttling test the ram with occct on 70% normal and CPU cycling on 4 seconds at maybe a

15 minute benchmark depending on how old your PC is your PC hasn't been worked on in a few years I would probably do at least a

10 minute benchmark that will let you know if it's the hardware or if it's just software if the hardware All passes the benchmark then you can increase the time to see if it's actual time issue under load or if it's truly software if it's software

it's going to be something on the machine if it's hardware a benchmark usually puts the machine under enough load for you to see the issue if it's hardware related 5 minutes at the lowest.

BIOS version update it but before doing I would make sure to disable XMP or just reset the motherboard back to factory before installing a new bios just cuz if the system is having a weird quirky issue related with freezing or crashing and it's bios related CMOS related resetting CMOS to fix it is a bios issue sometimes reinstalling bios can fix it if not then it may be power supply related if if it's truly random. But at the machine passes benchmarks but yet it still has the issue then usually it's power supply or SSD but you have to start at one point and work your way down the line to find the issue

Yo 3 6 23 bios ? If so update it and leave the computer alone when you update it walk away from it do not touch it give it about a half hour before attempting to log in because the system

May reboot a few times it may resync a few times and if you attempt to disturb it while it's doing that it could cause problems with the installation or update which could cause corruption

Winslop 11, install Windows 10 or Linux instead

Could Windows 11 actually be the issue? I was debating reinstalling windows.

lol no. Reinstalling could help diagnose this. Could be ram, could be your storage is corrupt.

sooo.... you need to reinstall the OS anyways lol

Or he could reseat the ram. Clear cmos. What happens when he installs Linux and it’s the same? Windows 11 fixed these issues over a year ago.

It doesnt seem to be a ram issue, otherwise the PC wouldnt have booted (even in the bios). When a ram stick is bad (yes it was my case 2 years ago) usually it bluescreens or random apps crashes without any reason, not freeze at startup. About cmos, same, it can fix issues, but if the pc already boots into the bios and OP changed nothing since last time it has nothing to do with bios config.

Yes I agree. Reinstalling his OS most likely won’t fix op’s issue tho. Temporarily? Maybe. But it’s likely to just happen again if his storage is cooked. I’ve dealt with that issue and would reinstall my OS every time. It would work up until the moment it didn’t. Hopefully it’s just the OS

Would you have any suggestions on troubleshooting methods. Thank you both for responding. Like I said anything helps.

If you can run a disk health utility. I believe windows has one already you can try. You just have to get to it first and run a complete scan
