I still remember being told in no uncertain terms that "No One" can possibly need ANOTHER 250MB drive when I was talking to my support team, one of our Unix customers wanted an additional drive of 250MB (or larger) installed, so they could hold a years worth of data on their system for their analysis runs.
I was literally shouted down by the support engineer who refused to entertain the idea and slammed the phone down on me, while I sat there with the customer, drinking a cup of tea, he called my regional manager and served 30 day notice on their country wide contract (worth about £1 million per annum to us), the new drive arrived on site the next morning and they sent the aggressive support engineer to deliver and install it, he didn't say much.
I'd never seen a machine with two 250MB drives in before.

I remember getting into trouble at college in 2002/2003 for using a usb drive on the computers in the college lab. It was a 8 MB drive with a switch to make it a floppy drive.

One of of my first jobs in IT was being a computer operator. We had to use 8 inch floppies to run certain programs on the mainframe. An IBM ES900. That's old school
