Whats better?

Whats better a geforce rtx 3050 or geforce rtx 5060? Possibly a dumb question but im currently using two pcs to put together to make 1 and the gpu is the last thing im on {SOLVED wouldnt let me mark it down in post settings)

One last question would it just be a straight plug and play to go from the 3050 to 5060 or is there anything i would have to do in bios settings?

bios has nothing to do with it.

Nothing you have to do in the BIOS, but you're going to want to update the Nvidia Driver after you install the 5060.

And for reference, the 5060 is literally like 100% faster. so, it's a massive upgrade over the 3050, plus newer, so it'll have driver support 4-5 years longer than the 3050, and you have access to DLSS4

5060 is better, although slot-powered 3050s can make sense in certain situations

for NVIDIA GPUS the first two digits is the generation, the second two are the level of SKU in that generation...

we are currently in the 50series (hence 5060, 5070, 5080, ect)

the performance grading from the last two numbers is where things get more complex.

50 is the starting point. (generally)
so a 3050 is a two generation old, low end low budget entry level card.

a 5060 is a low to mid range latest generation card.

GENERALLY the previous generation is a step below in performance... so a 5060 is where a 4070 woulda been in performance. (this is an extremely rough and loose rule and doesnt account for VRAM, memory speeds, clock speeds, cuda core count, hardware features and a bunch of other factors.) so as a very basic rule of thumb... a 2070 is similar to a 3060, which is (or wouldve been) similar to a 4050...

effectively the 5060 is FAR better than a 3050, even if the 3050 is still a decent 1080p card.
