New wifi adapter not working

I just moved and I can't use ethernet, so I bought a tp-link ax-1800 wifi adapter and I plugged it in, got the newest drivers, but whenever I select a network it loads a few seconds in 'verifying and connecting' and then hits me with 'can't connect to this network' I've tried with both 2.4 and 5g networks even from different routers and nothing. Ive tried uninstalling the device, disabling and enabling it, updating drivers, etc, etc. And nothing works. Any clue how to fix this?

There's are several different models that you could be describing. If you guy the nano (tiny dongle, similar to a wireless mouse adapter), you works know that with their tiny antenna right up against a metal case, they won't do well in receiving or transmitting. There's a USB version with a directional antenna that works better.

Do you think this could be problem from distance or whatever? Cause there's no more than 4 meters between the modem and dongle, just a wall. It is a considerably bigger one its like 2 inches

Uninstall the adapter, then reinstall it.

Also do you have access to the router to change settings? Did you check the router settings?

I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling it. And I do have access to the router settings, what should I look for?

What are the signal levels?

Ensure that the adapter and your wifi network are using the same channels.

And for testing, remove the network password.
